I’m from LA., moved to NYC for college, worked at a fashion house in Paris, and have written, assisted, styled, and labored in the fashion world enough to know that I am better off here in the blogosphere.

I, too, lust for designer garb like any good fashionista (SEE: Marchesa’s Spring 2011 Collection. Life. Changing), but if you ask me what I’d rather spend my money on, I’ll proudly say, “a down payment on a house!

“We are in a fashion era where stylists are elevated to god-like status and skinny bodies are idealized. But I simply refuse to believe there’s anything epic about making a model look chic on a $10,000 budget. What’s more intriguing to me is the challenge of looking chic when this season’s must-have Little Black Dress is no longer an option (or never was).

And that’s how I came up with the idea to put America’s cheapest discount department store on a fashion pedestal and ditch the skinny models for me and my friends. Welcome to a movement I like to call Penny Chic.
