Penny Chic

On Tuesday night, I went to the Us Weekly Magazine Hot Hollywood Party in LA, and as promised to my twitter friends (follow me @penny_chic!), here is a photo of what I wore to the big night.

Imagine the room….a Hollywood crowd dripping with Dolce & Gabbana sequins and Chanel bags where no one would dare utter the word “penny” unless it was referring to a loafer. And there I was struttin’ my stuff in a Wal-Mart dress for $14 next to celebs like Jessica Simpson, Carmen Electra, Hayden Panetierre, and Paris Hilton.

Before too many of you ask where I got the belt, I’m going to be annoying and say, “it’s vintage.” It’s true though, I bought it 6 years ago at a Flea Market and wear it ALL the time. I love statement belts that make an outfit POP and you can find belts that look like this one if you go to your local “cool” vintage store. This photo was taken of me just as I was leaving, so excuse the wrinkle in my dress from gettin down on the dance floor. The shoes were cut out of the photo, but I was wearing these rhinestone stilettos with it and they looked smashing! The dress was sold online up until a couple of days ago argh! Well here’s the same dress in a floral print.

Now that the Royal Wedding has officially begun or ended (depending on what time you read this), can we all agree that it’s time to retire #royalwedding coverage for a couple days/weeks/years?? Is it just me or are you over it too? In honor of the couple, check out this Kate Middleton inspired engagement ring from Wal-Mart I featured on the blog during the Oscars!
