NEW YORK RUNWAY CHIC

I have been on a quest to recreate runway looks for less than $100 during NY Fashion week and this is the first one I’ve decided to take on.  It was inspired by the trend of pairing flowy accent colored dresses with chunky textured coats. BCBG played with this idea a lot in his collection (see here).

I think fashion shows at best are meant to inspire us. A lot of the clothing highlighted on the runway doesn’t even make it to stores, it’s just a way for the designer to show the vision and narrative for his/her designs of the season. I love the idea of translating expensive designer looks for a lot less, which is why I wanted to do this. There’s no need to be intimidated by what comes down the runway….just make it work for you!

I took this photo outside in 23 degree weather + heavy winds. #modelproblems. Shout out to Javier Gomez, the photographer, for sticking it out in the cold with me to take this photo. It was worth the pain!

What do you think of this runway inspired look?

  1. I agree with Val-love the dress and shoes! The sweater isn’t my style but it definitely reflects that runway collections. AND you model it like a champ, way to go!
