EXPECTING CHIC
For the past 2 months, the most frequent request I get is to do Maternity, so I called on my stunning cousin Shelly who is due in 2 weeks! Shelly and her husband Joe are expecting a baby girl (yay!), but they wouldn’t reveal the name they came up with! They are, however, still picking her middle name so if you have suggestions, write in the comment box below! We are all so happy for Shelly and can’t wait for this precious baby to meet the world.
We shot a series of 4 outfits which you will see over the course of the next couple weeks. Styling Shelly may have been the easiest session I’ve ever had! Who knew dressing a pregnant model would be easier than dressing my other models. This outfit is one of my favorites, because it’s not what you typically see in Maternity wear. I found the top in the plus-size section of Target. I loved the print and felt the style looked a little cooler than some of the prints I had seen prior in the Maternity section. The talented photographer behind these photos who also happens to be my cousin and a Penny model ended up taking the top because she loved it so much! The shorts are Maternity and have that stretch top connected that goes over the tummy. The denim has a great wash and cut. It works with the funkiness of the top.
What kind of outfits would you wear if you were pregnant?

That IS a nice outfit. I wore maternity hawaiian shirts. Kind of The Big Lebowski pregnancy.
Finally…it’s about time! I’m almost 6months pregnant and am having a hard time finding cute maternity wear! I’m a very small woman and don’t like most of the huge, bland clothes that I tend to find in maternity sections. This outfit is super cute and I will be looking for that top at target…I already have the shorts!
beautiful! that’s what i did when i was pregnant. I just got bigger sizes of tops i would normally want to wear. i only bought bottoms in the maternity section – and i still looked fashionable!
Rock on Shauna! This is an awesome maternity outfit. I really love it. And your cousin, Shelley, is so beautiful. What a gorgeous mama. During my pgs, I typically wore sold colored tops and embellished with tank tops and jewelry for added color. I was a big fan of the swing away sweaters and cardigans & yoga pants or straight leg pants during cold months and short sleeve or sleeveless shirts and tanks, khaki maternity shorts & capri pants in the warm months.
This outfit is awesome! I can’t wait to see the other 3 you styled.
I’m currently pregnant with my 3rd and have always preferred dresses. Particularly because I live in FL and have always been due at the end of summer.
Love it!! You did an amazing job Shauna. She looks beautiful!!
You nailed it! I wore plus size tops until the end when even with the belly they were too big in the sides. I hated the bottoms for maternity because most were cheaply made and had a saggy butt at the end of the day. Funny for shorts I wore size 15 juniors drawstrings. They were a perfect length ( i like short shorts:-) and grew with me. She looks great:-)
Being 20 and pregnant, I personally wouldnt wear this. I think tops should be more fitted to proudly show off your belly. This one kinda looks like a tent.
I love that you are featuring maternity clothes! My bump and I thank you.
