I’ll admit it, there have been one or two times in my life where I’ve looked down at my shoes and realized they needed a little TLC. Luckily, there are some easy ways to clean shoes using things you probably already have around the house.
Canvas: Use a bit of OxiClean’s Versatile Stain Remover Powder and mix it with just enough water that it feels like a paste. Scrub your stains away with an old toothbrush and then rinse the canvas clean.
Patent Leather: Grab the petroleum jelly from your medicine cabinet, dab a little on a cloth, and rub the scuffed area of your shoe. Then, just wipe clean with a damp cloth.
Satin: Wrap a nylon stocking around your hand and wipe it in a circular motion to remove surface dust and dirt. If there are still stains, dab a cotton ball in some seltzer water and gently blot the stains. Next, blot the area with a dry cotton ball to remove excess moisture (which could lead to water marks). Speed up the drying process by setting your hair dryer to “cool” and letting it work its magic.
Bonus: Use a baby wipe to clean the bottoms of all different types of shoes!
