Convertible clothing (or rather, learning how to convert your clothes for different seasons) is one of the most important tools to have in your back pocket! In fact, I basically dedicated an entire chapter to it in my book. This time, I reinvented a $5 houndstooth dress (that’s typically thought of as a Fall print) and added a few quintessentially “summer” pieces to brighten up the print. Check it out!
The dress actually came with a detachable black slip but I opted to take it out, hoping a more sheer fabric would reflect more light into the dress. Only issue is that it ended up being completely see-thru. Who woulda thought!? My mom and I both couldn’t see it at the time, but sure see it now. Pardon my undies…
Adding a neon belt is the best move you can make. It changes the context of any wintery print and makes it more fun, and alive for summer!
Ironically, the leopard sandals from Sole Society could technically be converted into a fall/winter shoe when that day comes. The block heels are a great match for tights so keep that in mind! For our purposes, the sandal is pretty perfect as a Summer footwear staple. It’s super comfortable, open-toe, and offsets the fall/winter houndstooth print.
