UPDATE!

Morning Pennies!

So I felt it was time I gave you a little update on what’s going on with Penny Chic. You’re probably wondering why that obnoxiously pink voting poll is still on the the sidebar of the blog. 6,000 of you have voted so far and I’m now in the process of weighing in all the options. In the midst of that, I’m also redesigning the entire site! Yes, PC is getting a facelift. December 1 marks the official one year anniversary of Penny Chic (woohoo!) and I’m hoping that’s when the new site will go live. I’m so excited to show it to you guys!! PLEASE tell me if you have any suggestions about how the new site should be designed or organized. It’s now or never people! I can tell you one thing (or three things)…there will be a lot more video, a lot more color, and a lot more content!

That’s all for now folks. Now tell me….what’s new with you?

  1. I think it would be good if you simplified the visuals on your website…sometimes simple can go a long way, you just have to know how to structure it well :) I like the idea of a lot more color! Play with the font, and see which one is the most appealing to you ;) I was wondering if you might be able to feature some outfits that include dresses worn with fall/winter boots? I’m petite and curvy, so it’s hard to not get swallowed by clothing or have it be too tight. Sometimes I need to see it on someone else before I can decide how to make that outfit more “mine”. Enjoying your blog! Keep up the good work!

  2. I shop at JCP as they run several offers throughout the year like $10 off $!0, $10 off $25 etc. I like to see “can be worn with” pictures to show how the same outfit can be worn with some other wardrobe staples/colors. I think it will be more alluring to buy something if it can be worn multiple times in multiple styles.

  3. Shauna, you are such an inspiration!!

I am so happy to have discovered you a little less than a year ago and watched you expand this website and idea to around the globe. I always look great on the cheap, and you have proven that it is possible.

one suggestion to think about (it’s about your poll), tj maxx is a great store, but they do not have clothing on their website and from what I understand, every store has a different inventory. all of the other stores you have chosen as potential PC are great because they sell things online and have a (generally!) similar inventory from store-to-store around the U.S. (I cannot speak for around the world, as I have never been outside the U.S.)

Love and kisses from Minnesota!! <3 :)

p.s. – I love the houdstooth post – comparing the walmart coat to the high end $$$ ones!

  4. I LOVE Penny Chic and would really like to see more plus-size models. I am 5’9” and “fluffy” so I am always looking for items for the taller curvy gal. Also more models of different age groups is interesting, from teens to 105, would be fine with me. Keep up the wonderful work and can’t wait to see the new look for the site.

  5. @Dana–thanks for all the suggestions. I will definitely try and keep it simple. As for the boot idea, stay tuned. I just got a bunch of boots in from walmart.com so i’ll figure out a way to pair it with a dress or skirt! xoxo

@Jay–LOVE your idea! I wrote it down and am going to try and do one in the next coming weeks. Nobody’s ever had that suggestion for me. Thanks for bringing it up!

@Katie–I’m honored that my blog can be an inspiration for you. Nothing more I could ever ask for. I completely agree with you re: TjMaxx and will most likely not be including them for that very reason. Thanks for all the suggestions! xoxo

@Annebeth–You’re not alone with wanting more plus-size and older models. That seems to be the general consensus and I’m working on getting some more ladies to model for me that fit the bill! Thank you!

@Liana–So happy you like Penny Chic Men. I wasn’t sure whether my female readers were uninterested in it. Thanks for congratulating me on my anniversary. It’s been QUITE a year!!

  6. So excited for what’s ahead! I know whatever you decide will be brilliant- can’t wait to see some more content, have a bit more organization, see more Chic TV and just have the site get some loving. Congrats on everything!!

  7. Love changes but go easy with the video. They take too long and our too loud. Short and simple is always best. Ditto the plus-size and 50+ models. I also think that an occassional toddler/kids section would be great. I love shopping Walmart for looks that are twice as much at the Gap/Baby Gap, etc. and three times as cute! Keep up the good work and congratulations on a great year!
