Today’s trend tracker is all about those oversized sweaters that have been huge this fall/winter. It used to be called a “boyfriend sweater” and you had to go steal one from your man or buy it from the men’s department, but now you can find these sweaters in any store that sells ladieswear. The idea is that it’s comfy and effortlessly chic. Some sweaters are more grungy and loose fitting than others.

The one I’m wearing here by Catherine Malandrino’s line for Kohl’s was actually a cardigan. To give it more of a tailored look, I used a thin belt to cinch the waist. This is a great trick to use on any loosely fitted sweater. The thinner the belt in this case, the better. A thick belt used over a thick material would not be a slenderizing look.

What’s your take on oversized clothing? Are you into the whole comfy chic vibe or do you prefer a tailored look?
