OMG SHAUNA THIS IS INCREDIBLE!! So amazing and exciting. I am SO excited to see what you do in Australia. You are going to do such an awesome job. YAY!
Congrats on expanding your borders – literally! I think your idea to include Kmart and other stores like Kohl’s or Target is perfect! It meets your mission of making cheap chic, and allows for an even greater selection! I’ve been following you for the past year and your ideas have helped me transform my wardrobe on a dime Best of luck to you! Looking forward to seeing these next chapters.
You’re so adorable on camera! How exciting to be in the land down under. That is a lot of clothing, but glad you were able to smuggle it in. It’s like what paint/drawing supplies are to an artist, your baggage items are your art tools! Anyway, how cool to be able to do Kmart runway as well! Good luck to you, I”m sure you’ll shine!!!
My dad and mom have been to Sydney, Australia. You should go to nikonsniper.com. It’s my dads blog, he would love if you became a follower, he is out of town right now. You Should comment that his daughter sent you and ask him where to go in Sydney. I know my mom told me one but I would butcher the name, I kknow Sydney opera house though. My dad has a amazing photo blog that he posts to so you might see the pictures from Australia. Hope this helps.
Veggimite is NOT peanut butter. If someone offers you some put the thinest scraping you can onto the bread. If you put it on like peanut butter you will regret it.
Make sure you ask someone what to call flip flops before you talk about them on TV because they have a different name for them.
You have to try a Tim Tam Slam if you like chocolate. Get Tim Tam’s from the store, make some hot Cocoa, bite the corner off one side the bite off the diagonal corner, use the cookie as a straw and shove the whole thing in your mouth before it disintegrates in your hand. They are SO good!!
Leah–Thanks for sending along your father’s blog. I’ll take a look at it! My mom is also a photographer, as you probably know.
Brenda–Thanks for all the advice! I couldn’t agree more about Veggimite…it’s CERTAINLY not peanut butter. I learned that the hard way. I am officially addicted to Tim Tams and thanks for the tip on flip flops…I’ll be sure to say “thongs”!
Anonymous–Thanks for your kind words as always. I didn’t have a chance to replay the video until now and I see it looks like I’m NAKED, when really I’m just wearing a strapless shirt LOL. Hope people could see that!
Clare–Thanks for your support since the beginning! Your opinion about me branching out to other stores means a lot to me
I am on here after seeing your piece on Today Tonight. So glad you are enjoying it here at the moment, although the weather has been a bit off compared to normal.
Things to do in Sydney while you are here include:
- Royal Botanic Gardens and Mrs Macquarie’s chair
- Fish and Chips at Doyle’s at Watson’s Bay
- Taronga Zoo: beautiful views of the harbour as well as lovely animals
- Cafe Sydney is very popular for dinner
- Walk around the markets at the Rocks on Sat/Sun, Paddington Markets on Saturdays
- Adriano Zumbo at Balmain, Rozelle, or Manly (great!!!!! pastries/cakes etc) (where you can also have a ferry ride to get there)
- If you have the time, a day trip out to Katoomba in the Blue Mountains is great-see the 3 sisters, and then lunch and a look around Leura is lovely.
- Newtown has great value for money as far as dining out goes: it’s the student/artsy/hippie district.
Hi, just saw you on Channel 9 – great to see you Down Under. Can you also review Target as I’ve always felt it’s better quality and better service than Kmart in recent years. Also, can you do a video for 40 somethings? Congratulations, it’s great to see someone taking it to the over priced fashion industry. I’d love to see young girls spending less money on fashion and more on investments, so what you’re doing is fantastic. I’m about to introduce your blog to my 16yo daughter – thanks.
And, best places to visit in Australia (according to me…..):
Great ocean road – Victoria
Blue Mountains – NSW
Palm Cove – Qld
Kakadu National Park – NT
Thanks Tricia! So glad you found me on Channel 9. Yes, I will be using Target clothes on the site very soon. And thanks for all the recommendations! Looks like I’ll have to make another visit and do some of the things off your list! xoxo
Yay! yay! yay!!! Congrats Shauna – What an amazing opportunity! Soooo excited for you. I can’t wait to see the pics from the show! <3
