This photo was taken on my third birthday, exactly 23 years ago. The 5 words I’ve heard so much but never thought I’d say have finally hit the fan, “Where has the time gone?”. The homemade cake, mixed up outfit, uncle dressed as Donald Duck, mom at my side (always), and the look of curiosity on my face warm my heart. Such a precious moment. WHERE.HAS.THE.TIME.GONE.

Now looking back on the past 26 years, I get how this whole year and 4.5 months (but who’s counting?) has come full circle. You see, I’ve always expressed my voice through fashion. Just ask my family to tell you the story about how I refused to change out of an ice cream printed dress for a week straight when I was 3. In high school, I was named “most likely to wear striped leggings, a plaid skirt, and leopard purse with patent leather high heels”. You could say I dressed to the beat of my own drum (exhibit C above).

I realize I still have a lot to learn (I’m only 26!), but one thing I can tell you for sure is that how you dress and what you wear affects how you feel. And if you feel good about yourself, you’ll perform better at work, in your relationships, and at life (at least I do). In a nutshell, life’s too short to not wear what makes you happy, even if there’s an overused ice cream dress involved.

In my 26th year, I’m feeling more blessed than ever before. At the top of my list is the fact that you visit my blog everyday and have given me a platform to communicate my message that looking great can be attained at any price point, age, or body type. It’s my lot in life to make sure we both feel good about what we wear, so thank you for listening. I hope this photo can remind you, like it reminded me, to UNLEASH your inner 3 year old and experiment with fashion! You may fail….and so what?! We all have a lot more to uncover when it comes to our personal style.
