SEQUINS AND CHAMBRAY

Last week, we had the lovely Marissa come to the HQ to model for us!  This girl is a big deal in the YouTube beauty guru world, so it should come as no surprise that her hair was SO amazing.  Seriously, let’s just take a moment to appreciate its fabulousness:

Marissa and I both fell in love with this sequined skirt, so we knew we wanted to create a look around it.  When I was styling her, I tried to keep the rest of the outfit simple (so the skirt could be the real “statement”) but not too simple, or it’d look like she’d just thrown on the skirt and not put any thought into the look  as a whole.

The chambray shirt balanced out the skirt in two ways: 1) the laid-back fabric counteracted the craziness of the sequins, and 2) the oversized (or “boyfriend”) fit kept the outfit from looking too “Saturday night out on the town.”

We finished things off with a pair of booties to play off of the slightly southwestern vibe of the skirt, then added a blush-colored purse (recognize it from yesterday?) and a bright necklace for a pop of color.

Get the look:

White Tee, Old Navy ($10); Tribal Skirt, Express ($59.90); Purse, Forever21 ($21.80); Chambray Shirt, Wrangler, Walmart ($14.97); Western Boot, Faded Glory, Walmart ($19.87); Necklace, Walmart ($3)
