HIPSTERS WHO LUNCH CHIC
I was working on this post at about midnight last night and fell asleep with my laptop in bed before I even wrote an entry to go along with the photos! It’s been a challenge these days to get organized and not do things at the last minute. Anyone feeling that way?
Today’s model is a newbie. Meet my new friend Robin, a D.C. transplant living in LA who saved my mom’s antique rug. It’s a long story that involves a glass of red wine, a panic attack, 20 t-shirts and seltzer water.
I struggled with the name of this outfit. I started with “it girl chic, then changed to fashion blogger chic, but ultimately felt it was too conservative. There is an element of work attire in this ourfit (tailored jacket, watch, and loafers) but definitely not something you would wear to a conventional job with the short romper. Who wears rompers? Well, hipsters do. Hence the name: Hipster Business Woman Chic. What do you think, should I change it?
Anyway, I LOVE this outfit. The patent leather loafers are $2.50. Yes you heard me right. $2.50. But I have to say, my favorite part of the outfit is the romper with the blazer. Not something you would expect, but it looks really put together.

Super cute outfit but in the professional business environment that I work in this would be frowned upon as too short and too casual. Perhaps pairing the blazer with a black dress that is a little longer would be a better fit for “Business Woman Chic.”
Love your work – keep it coming.
Totally agree and that’s why I added “Hipster” to the equation. What do you think I should change the name to? I’m open!!
I would wear this! Cute outfit. To me, the name implies a “spin-off” of business attire. Hipster first, business second. But, if someone wanted to wear this to work with pants, just get a black pant jumpsuit or black pants and camisole. Same look.
Those shoes are only 2.50?? Are they comfortable??
I think I’d call it “Hipsters Who Lunch” More fashion forward than “Ladies Who Lunch.” You’d never get away with a romper at almost any job. Cute for a casual day in a warm town running in and out of air-conned buildings.
I just LOVE those loafers, they just make the entire outfit. I need to make a run to the W tonight!
Anonymous–I agree!
Jordy–Yes, they are pretty comfortable in fact
Liana–I think I’m going to change the name to Hipsters Who Lunch! Great GREAT title!!!
Is the blazer from walmart?
Yes it is, Sarah. I forgot to put the info down for it! It’s Norma Kamali and costs $20
Thanks, re: the name change, Shauna! ;D
Love this whole look and the scarf add just the right touch!
It’s a nice and so wonderful. I like it.
